You can speak directly to our Event Director Liz Ormesher who would be happy to discuss opportunities to get involved in the Show – she can be reached at [email protected]. You can also find out more information here Get Involved - National Equine Show

Are there any jobs available?

Not currently but please contact [email protected] and we will pass your query on.

If you are interested in speaking at the event we would love to hear from you - please contact [email protected]

How are you working to reduce the carbon footprint at the show?

From working with the venue, looking at ourselves and collaborating with exhibitors. But here’s the thing… Visitors’ travel is the biggest carbon emitter of each show. So we need your help. Taking the train instead of driving will reduce the emissions of your journey by around 80%. The NEC is a 5-minute walk from Birmingham International train station or 90 seconds by the free air-rail walk. If you need to drive, car share with friends and reduce your impact by 50%. There’s a great network of cycle and footpaths in the area and bike racks are near the entrance. There are also electric car charging point and more to come in the future…

Is there a cloakroom?

The NEC has a cloakroom before you enter the Show. Visitors with a VIP Ticket will have access to a VIP Cloakroom in the VIP Lounge.

Do I need to book to see a speaker?

No need to book, our speaker program is included as part of your ticket and seats are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Will there be food stalls?

Yes, there will be a number of NEC-managed food stalls, and some of our exhibitors will sell packaged food items too.

Will I need ID?

We do not require ID to gain entry to the Show.

My question isn’t here

If you still have a question, please email us on [email protected]

Where can I stay nearby?

We've partnered with EventBeds by NuBreed Hotels to offer exclusive deals at localised hotels with savings of up to 30%. Please visit the EventBeds VIP Concierge link here.

How can I travel sustainably to the show?

When planning your travel please consider your carbon footprint:

  1. Travel on public transport or actively where possible (nearest train line is Birmingham International which brings you straight into the NEC) – save ££ by booking train/coach tickets in advance
  2. If travelling by car then we encourage car sharing with others you know and/or potentially using car sharing apps like liftshare.com or blablacar.com – save ££ when you book NEC car park tickets in advance
  3. Combine 1 and 2 – have you thought about connecting with local public transport and bike hire schemes – see tfwm.org.uk for bike hire and park and ride options
  4. Carbon offsetting your travel – we are encouraging all visitors to donate £2 to offset their carbon footprint on travelling to the show

Accessibility

I’m in a wheelchair, is the venue accessible?

Yes, the venue is accessible for people with different needs. You can find out more information here: Disabled Visitors to the NEC | The NEC Birmingham but can also contact [email protected] to discuss how we can make the show as accessible as possible.

Will you have a quiet space available?

We will have small area reserved should a visitor need a few moments away from the Show floor – to find out more about this or speak to the team contact [email protected]

Can I bring my pet?

Winner of Equestrian Tech of the Year 2023 at the Equestrian Business Awards, The Dressage Coach is an app-based platform which provides unlimited coaching at an affordable monthly price. Users can upload unlimited videos to the app for Maddi to review. Maddi will then send a recording of the video back with feedback for the member.

The app provides loads of other features too, including a competition score analyser, comprehensive library of schooling exercises, a test movement guide with details of how to score higher in every kind of dressage movement, goal setting system and much more.

Maddi has also been a pioneer in remote coaching and now coaches as many people remotely as she does face to face and has clients all over the world.

Alongside the app, Maddi also created an online community for members which has been often referred to as the most supportive equestrian community online.

The Dressage Simulator

My name is Steph Brumpton and I am the owner and creator of SJB Equine Performance Training.

SJB Equine Performance Training was created after I started working with a 5* event rider as her Strength and Conditioning coach. I noticed just how far behind in training the equestrian athletes were in comparison to other Olympic Sports, and the impact of which the training I was doing with Alex made to her riding. This made me think, if this is top level athletes just imagine how much difference I could make to people at lower levels as well.

As riders we train tirelessly trying to get our horses ‘fit’, ‘balanced’ & ‘supple’ but often neglect our own fitness and there’s always been very little focus on how we as riders move and it’s always been about the horse when actually, we as riders can cause most of the problems. As a rider myself I’ve always understood how important my posture, balance and conditioning is and how it effects the horse I’m riding massively.

The Therapy Pony Zone with Lunar Eclipse

Introducing "Lunar Eclipse," our upcoming venture set to redefine the landscape of equine-facilitated learning & wellness. Meet Daisy and Apollo, our specially trained miniature horses, nurtured for their empathetic nature and therapeutic prowess, who will be the heart of a transformative experience. Harnessing the inherent connection between humans and these gentle companions, Lunar Eclipse aims to create a space where emotional well-being is nurtured through interactions with these miniature wonders.

Join us at the National Equine Show to witness the return of Daisy and Apollo, the beloved miniature stars of Lunar Eclipse. Engage with our team, find out about being trained to become an Equine Facilitated Practioner, and be a part of the journey toward a healthier and more connected tomorrow.

Don't miss our insightful Q&A sessions at the National Equine Show, where you can delve deeper into the world of equine-facilitated learning & wellness. Learn more about Daisy and Apollo, the approach behind Lunar Eclipse, and how this innovative approach is reshaping emotional well-being.

Meet and Greet

We have an incredible set of guests joining us at the National Equine Show. Many of these will be making themselves available to meet, catch-up and snap a photo with, at the GS Equestrian Meet and Greet area.

Our speakers have allocated a set amount of time to meet as many people in the queue as possible. We'll do our best to make sure everyone gets a chance, but in some circumstances, the queue will have to be cut short to fit with the busy schedule. To maximise your chances of reaching the front of the line, please aim to arrive within the first 10 minutes of the advertised session time. Make sure you check back at this page to see the Meet and Greet schedule, and updates on who will be taking part!

Welcome to the National Equine Show

WELCOME

Liz Ormesher

Event Director
at Racoon Media Group

We are incredibly excited for the National Equine Show to return to NEC, Birmingham for its second year. We are a small team with a huge ambition to represent the best that the equine industry has to offer and it is an honor to keep bringing this show to Birmingham.

The National Equine Show is for anyone who loves horses, offering a premium shopping experience alongside interactive experiences and amazing content from our line-up of inspirational speakers.

After launching the show in 2023, we listened to feedback and worked hard to bring together an even bigger and better weekend with incredible brands, educational and fun content, and show offers.

The best way to navigate around the show and find the brands you want is through the Exhibitors link on this Show Guide where you can find an A to Z of all brands.

Head over to the Agenda button on the Show Guide to see who is speaking, when and where.

Thank you for coming along to the show and supporting us, I hope you have a great weekend!

With best wishes

Liz Ormesher

Flo Carter

Flo Carter

Flo is a passionate equestrian who loves nothing more than being up on stage, chatting to people about their horsey stories. She juggles her university study alongside competing two event horses and content creation work. When sharing her eventing ventures online, her ethos is always to document the high and the low – the reality of horse ownership isn’t always glamorous after all! Over the past year she has been able to explore her enthusiasm for equestrian presenting at the likes of the London International Horse Show and The Pony Club Championships.

Georgia Poolton

Georgia Poolton

Georgia qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2021 and joined Field Equine Vets shortly after.
She enjoys all aspects of clinical work but has a keen interest in internal medicine! Particularly, gastrointestinal, respiratory and endocrine disease.
Georgia also is keen on dermatology, ophthalmology and equine behaviour. She hopes to go on to study a certificate in Equine Internal Medicine in the near future.

Like many of us ‘horsey people’- Georgia’s love of horses and all things equine began at an early age, and she grew up spending countless hours volunteering at a local riding school and caring for her own horses. Georgia was also keen member of the Pony Club.

Outside of work, Georgia is kept busy by her own horse Max- a nineteen-year-old Cob x Thoroughbred.
Georgia has owned Max since she was ten years old, and they now enjoy a slightly easier life hacking around the local area.

Sarah Cheetham

Sarah Cheetham

Flying Changes was founded in 2012 by Sarah Cheetham, a law graduate and professional International dressage rider, trainer and BD listed judge. A revision of the dress code by British Dressage in 2011 sparked an, as yet untapped, talent and passion in Sarah during the process of designing a truly unique tailcoat for herself. She found a small UK tailor to work with and bought all the fabrics herself. The tailcoat was grey with a salmon pink stripe and collar. At that time something quite extraordinary!

Whilst representing GB at Hartpury CDI that year, Sarah found herself the envy of her fellow competitors and everyone wanted to know where she had bought her new tailcoat. The seed was sown, but it was not until the following year, when Sarah was sidelined due to a back injury, that the business became truly established.

Stephanie Quintrell

Stephanie Quintrell

Steph has ridden and owned her own horses for over 20 years, and became a para-equestrian in 2019 when she became suddenly unwell and lost her mobility within 48 hours of becoming ill. In June 2023 Steph became the world’s first wheelchair user to ride across the Pyrenees mountains from France to Spain, using the WW2 freedom trails, in an expedition called Ride to Freedom. Steph is aiming for another world’s first in February 2026, when alongside a team of 5, she will horse ride the across the Andes from Argentina to Chile, following the same trails that were use by the Liberation army in 1817 to liberate Chile from the Spanish  monarchy. This next expedition also forms part of the start up of the new not-for-profit Steph and her husband Jon have set up, called Equine Para-adventures CIC.

Stephanie Jayne Brumpton

Stephanie Jayne Brumpton

Stephanie specialises as a sport specific Equestrian Strength & Conditioning, Pilates and Mobility Coach. She has been in the fitness industry for over a decade with a huge amount of experience working with a range of clients from elite athletes to everyday people with orthopaedic conditions.
Back in 2011, at the in age of 19 she entered the equestrian world and decided she was going to learn to ride after discovering her love of horses and eventing, watching Burghley Horse Trials. She went on from there to compete in eventing progressing from BE80 to Intermediate and 2* level in just 2 years. Having completed Osberton CCI* international back in 2016 all her training events and programmes are designed from years of personal experience and from more recently having worked with a 5* event rider. She also travelled the country competing as an Elite CrossFit athlete.
“My passion is to make sport specific training accessible to everyone, to help people move better, feel better in themselves and understand what they can actually achieve. My goal is to get people to understand how they move and how that movement impacts their horse. When we begin to focus on our quality of movement and the way our body moves it’s amazing the difference it can make both physically and mentally to not only us but also to the way in which a horse goes. Many people know what they need to do when riding in regards to their posture, or balance or core strength but many people don’t know how to achieve these improvements. This is where SJB Performance Training comes in to help you take your riding to the next level.
Geoff Billington

Geoff Billington

Geoff Billington started riding at the age of nine.  His parents were not horsey, however Geoff says “he followed a group pretty girls and finished up at the local riding stables!!!!”  It’s there that his love affair with horses began.  Ten children, nine girls and Geoff, announced in the local newspaper that they were saving up to buy a pony, a childhood fantasy. That same day a local man rang up and said his children were not interested in the surprise 4 year old pony he had bought them and if they gave £10 to charity they could have the pony.

So only £1 each.  Geoff laugh’s, within a few weeks, my sisters had either got boyfriends or lost interest so I got my first Pony!!!

I loved watching the Showjumping on television, my favourites, were Harvey Smith and David Broome.

After teaching myself and Sandstorm to jump, we started to hitch lifts to shows.  Geoff recalls, “one of my first rivalries was with a milkman’s son from Huddersfield, he was the same age as me, he was very quiet, very stubborn and a steely determination to win.  Geoff laugh’s.  His name was John Whitaker!

On leaving school, Geoff went to work for a Manchester night club owner, called Joe Pullen, he owned showjumper’s for David Bowen and Graham Fletcher.  Joe gave Geoff the ride on a horse named after his night club, Talk Of The North and at 19 years of age Geoff competed on his first British Team competition in Poland.

He has since ridden in over Fifty Nations Cups for his country.

Geoff says, throughout my career I’d had some fantastic horses and owners.  But in 1992 a long time owner sent me a novice 6 year old horse that changed my life.  His name was ‘It’s Otto’.  He was to become one of the best horses in the world.  He kept me in the top ten in the world for over two years.

In 1996 we were selected for the Atlanta Olympic Games where we came 6th individually.  In 1997 we had a team Bronze at the European Championships, in Manheim 1998 another team Bronze and Bronze at the Word Championships in Rome, 1999  and in the European Championships at Hickstead we were 6th individually.  Then in 2000 we were selected for the Olympic Games in Sydney.  Phew what a horse!

Nowadays Geoff still competes.  He does lots of coaching and clinics all round the country, Commentry at a few of the top shows all the while producing, buying and selling horses, not to mention, his hilarious after dinner speeches.

When we asked Geoff to sum up his life in Showjumping, he says, he wouldn’t change one thing, “how many people can say their hobby is their job”…. “growing up and going on tour with your mates every week”, especially when the mates have been John and Michael Whitaker plus Olympic Individual Champion, Nick Skelton!!!

I don’t come from a horsey background but at aged 4 I started riding through RDA, which was suggested as a form of physio therapy. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with the sport. I start my Para Dressage journey in my teens but found it difficult to progress without my own horse. It wasn’t though until the age of 20 that I was able to buy my first horse Coco and begin my journey as an International Rider. Finding the right horse can take most athletes years so I feel very lucky to have found Coco and that the journey to finding Coco was documented through my documentary “TEGAN” on YouTube commissioned by Netflix.

This year we’ve been selected for our first 3* International, with the aims of Presenting more and documenting exciting opportunities and announcements to come.
