Katie is a Registered Nutritionist (Animal) with the Association for Nutrition and is also accredited by BETA ENFAR. This is a new scheme which recognises equine nutritionists and feed advisers who offer a good standard of evidence-based advice and conduct themselves professionally and responsibly. Katie has now worked in the equine feed industry for over 10 years, and her responsibilities include providing nutrition advice for a wide range of horse owners and professionals, producing technical written content for equestrian publications, and delivering educational talks and training. In 2020, she completed her Master’s degree at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focussed on the use of equine weigh tapes, and she presented her findings at the European Workshop on Equine Nutrition (EWEN) in the summer of 2022. She enjoys keeping up to date with the latest research and translating this into clear, practical guidance for horse owners.
