As new sponsors of the Inspiration Stage at this year’s National Equine Show, we took the opportunity to catch up with Saracen Horse Feeds’ Head of Marketing, Claire Allmett, to find out more about the company and what they have in store for the show.
For anyone that doesn’t know about Saracen, can you tell us what Saracen Horse Feeds is all about?
As the name suggests, we are manufacturers of horse feed, and we create horse feed for all types of horses and ponies, from elite Olympic level to leisure horses and retirees. As well as manufacturing horse feed, we’re hugely passionate about all things nutrition and research for horses, which is supported by our exclusive partnership with leading equine research facility, Kentucky Equine Research. We work with horse owners to find the best feeding solution for their individual horse, whether they have laminitis concerns, or difficult managing gastric ulcers, we are here to help.
Why are you exhibiting at the National Equine Show?
We exhibited last year for the very first time and thought the show was great, there was so much going on! Speaking to so many people was a real highlight for us, from existing customers to new people requiring feed advice. For us looking at 2025, it really was about how we can be more involved with the show and sponsoring the Inspiration Stage was the perfect fit for us.
What’s Saracen Horse Feeds’ latest product release?
We’ve just celebrated the one-year anniversary of our new veteran range.
We really put a lot of time into the research and development of our veteran feeds. The needs and requirements of our beloved golden oldies can be slightly different to younger horses, and we wanted to create products which acknowledges and fulfils those needs. In the range we have Veteran Mash and Veteran Balancer. Veteran Mash caters for older horses and ponies who require condition, perhaps with poor dentition, it’s also a great forage replacer and encourages horses to eat and chew with our unique Palatability Plus (P+) seasoning. Veteran Balancer is another great product created for veteran good doers, who may experience metabolic conditions, and those who do not require additional calories but all the added benefits of a great veteran feed, such as elevated levels of Omega 3’s for joint health and mobility.
What can we expect to see from Team Saracen at the National Equine Show? Why should people come and see you at the stand?
Team Saracen will be there in force! There will be lots of faces you recognise with our regional area managers in attendance, it’s a great opportunity to touch base with them if you require feeding advice for your horse. It’s always great to see someone face-to-face to discuss any issues you may be having. If you’ve not met our team, or spoken to Saracen before, we’re a very friendly bunch, so if you have a feeding concern no matter how small, please visit us and we will be able to help you. As well as feeding advice, we will also have products there including our popular Re-Covery Mash™ Travel Pouches, Munchies™ and Saracen buckets. On our tradestand we will be offering an incredible competition which we encourage everyone to enter, and of course our exciting sessions taking place on the Inspiration Stage too.
